The Government of the Republic of Serbia has provided subsidies for the purchase of electric vehicles by adopting the Regulation on the terms and conditions for the implementation of subsidized purchase of new vehicles with exclusively electric drive (“Official Gazette of RS”, No. 8/2024).
Support for the purchase of electric vehicles is an incentive measure implemented in many countries to reduce the use of vehicles with fossil fuels, which has undoubtedly contributed to the increase in the number of such vehicles.
Requests for the subsidies for the purchase of electric vehicles can be submitted from February 12th. The state has approved a subsidy of up to 5,000 euros per vehicle, and requests are submitted to the Ministry of Environmental Protection by October 31st.
A total of 1.45 million euros has been allocated for subsidies for the purchase of electric vehicles, which is less compared to the previous year when this amount was 2.5 million euros. Subsidies are available to citizens, entrepreneurs, and companies.
The subsidy amounts are as follows:
- 250 euros for mopeds and tricycles.
- 500 euros for the purchase of electric motorcycles, heavy tricycles, and quadricycles.
- 5,000 euros in dinar equivalent for passenger vehicles with a maximum of 9 seats and commercial vehicles whose maximum permissible mass does not exceed 3.5 tons.
The application for the subsidy for the purchase of electric vehicles is submitted to the Ministry of Environmental Protection personally at the office or by mail. If the documentation is complete, the process proceeds to the issuance of the subsidy approval. The applicant will be informed of the decision and invited to collect the approval, which is then submitted to the vehicle seller or leasing company.
